American Idol Wedding

Former "American Idol" Ruben Studdard has married Surata Zuri McCants at a church in a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama. But there was no singing during the 30-minute ceremony -- just an exchange of vows, prayers and music provided by a string ensemble. A reporter from The Birmingham News attended the ceremony.

The groom, nicknamed the "Velvet Teddy Bear" on "Idol" for his big frame and sonorous voice, wore a black tuxedo with white bow tie for Saturday's ceremony. His bride wore a white and ivory wedding gown.

Alabama will be their home as the 29-year-old-singer gets set to release a new album later this year.

Shaq gets slapped by sheriff for rap about Bryant

Shaquille O’Neal will lose his special deputy’s badge in Maricopa County because of language he used in a rap video that mocks former teammate Kobe Bryant.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said the Phoenix Suns center’s use of a racially derogatory word and other foul language left him no choice. Arpaio made Shaq a special deputy in 2006 and promoted him to colonel of his largely ceremonial posse later that year.

“I want his two badges back,” Arpaio told The Associated Press on Tuesday. “Because if any one of my deputies did something like this, they’re fired. I don’t condone this type of racial conduct.”

Shaq was seen in a video posted on the celebrity news and gossip Web site TMZ.com rapping that “Kobe couldn’t do without me.” O’Neal skewers the Lakers’ star, with whom he won three straight NBA titles from 2000-2002 while with Los Angeles, for not being able to win a championship without him.

“I was freestyling. That’s all. It was all done in fun. Nothing serious whatsoever,” O’Neal told ESPN.com Monday. A call to the Suns on Tuesday seeking comment from O’Neal was referred to his public relations firm, which didn’t immediately respond.

Women with long nails speak out against iPhone design

Most people either love or hate the iPhone's touch screen, and based on a report on the LA Times, women with long fingernails are among the haters. Why? Well, since the iPhone's touchscreen only responds to electrical charges emitted by your bare fingertips, women with long nails are left out in the cold. A woman interviewed for the article went so far as to suggest Apple was being misogynistic because it did not include a stylus for women and didn't consider womens' fingers and nails when designing the phone.

Honestly, though, this same argument has come up against keyboards, touch screen monitors, and anything else that involves the use of your fingers, so should every gadget maker change the design of its products to accommodate users with long nails, or should people with long nails learn to work around this problem like they have in the past? I'd love to hear what Apple has to say about all this, but I doubt they'll ever address this particular design flaw.

Personally, I'd rather have them focus on the real issues of the iPhone, like the lack of a video camera, extra storage, and better camera, but that's just me. Besides, there are styli out there that work with the iPhone just fine and are pretty affordable.

This all reminded me of an iPhone reviewer who had a hard time using the iPhone due to her long nails, and in her frustration she said, "I guess people who use Apple products are too cool for fingernails." But are we? What do you think?

Boston Celtics Win 17th NBA Title

The Boston Celtics have captured a record 17th National Basketball Association championship by defeating the visiting Los Angeles Lakers, 131-92. The Celtics won the best-of-seven series, 4-2 - 22 years after their last title.

With the first burst of points Tuesday, Boston kept pressing ahead of the Lakers with a strong offense and stifling defense. Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen each scored a game-high 26 points in a balanced attack. NBA MVP Kobe Bryant led the losing effort by Los Angeles with 22 points.

Paul Pierce, who averaged nearly 22 points per game, was named the series most valuable player.

The turnaround for Boston this season was dramatic, after posting the worst record in the Eastern Conference just last year.

The Lakers were trying to become the first team in NBA history to come back from a 3-1 deficit and win the title. But Boston has finished with a 13-1 record at home during the postseason to give the Celtics a new NBA record for the most home wins in the postseason.

Boston has played 26 times in the playoffs, setting a new record for the most games played in the postseason.

Wayne calls upon the other “Mr. Carter” for Weezy/Jay-Z collaboration number two, and the two emcees let loose over a light-hearted piano-and-horns production; while Wayne throws shots back at the haters, Jay-Z provides the calm confidence of a seasoned vet, “I’m right here, in my chair, with my crown, and my dear, Queen B, as I share, my time, with my heir// Young Carter, go farther, go further, go harder, is that not why we came? Diddy, Jeezy, 50 Cent discuss Obama nomination, Nas to release "Black President"

A number of MC's have spoken out in the last two days about Barack Obama wining the Democratic nomination for President.

"Today is one of the greatest and proudest moments of my life," Diddy told MTV of Obama's nomination. "Not just as a black man, but as an American. Senator Obama becoming the Democratic nominee for president is history in the making and proof that we do live in the greatest country in the world!"

Young Jeezy, who recently performed in a "F Bush" shirt added:

"For real, as bad as we try to ignore it and act like it ain't got nothing to do with us, it's real," Jeezy said. "What [the rest of the country] feared for a long time, a black president, it could possibly happen right now."

"I know however it comes out, [the election] is gonna affect all of us," Jeezy continued. "It's like trying to fix a record label that's bankrupt. These different households — middle class [or] people on Wall Street waking up bankrupt every day when the stocks ain't the same. It's a hard job for any one person to fix the country. It's a lot of people. I can't make everybody happy in my family. I know damn well can't nobody make everybody happy in the country. You gotta deal with too many issues."

Even 50 Cent, who early on in the primaries supported Hillary Clinton, has changed his tune.

"I heard Obama speak," 50 told MTV. "He hit me with that he-just-got-done- watching-'Malcolm X' [thing], and I swear to God, I'm like, 'Yo, Obama!' I'm Obama to the end now, baby!"

Meanwhile, Nas has decided to release his new Green Lantern produced song "Black President, which was originally intended for the DJ's 'Barack Obama Mixtape', and now include it on his upcoming album.

"I was making the song for the Barack Obama mixtape, and Nas heard the song and called, like, 'Yo, I need that for my album,' " Green Lantern explained. "I said, 'Of course, but it's gotta come out now, 'cause it's so timely.' With his album dropping July 1st, it worked out. I think he does it justice.
